About us
Stories that make you hopeful or angry... you can act on them!
Independent, fact-based media is vital to society. Media unpack complex issues, expose essential truths and point to solutions. Good media hold decision-makers accountable.
MediaAMP delivers to your inbox stories where your voice can influence change. We highlight one action that is needed now and the people who can take that action.
With the MediaAMP tool, you easily send these stories with brief messages to decision-makers. They know Canadians are watching and want action.

How You Impact Decisions
MediaAMP actions often target decision-makers who don’t generally hear from Canadians: a Minister’s staffer, the communications lead, a board member of a pension fund invested in the company.
Suddenly, they are getting emails from Canadians on current news that is highly relevant to them. It could be:
- new information they need to look into.
- something they need to address—people are talking about this.
- the show of public support they need to take action.
Constructive messages on current news get attention. MediaAMP is not a mass email campaign. It's Canadians engaging directly with decision-makers. Your MP or MPP is copied as appropriate, increasing your impact.

The Origins of MediaAMP
Doug Blackburn
MediaAMP Founder
I’ve been fortunate to spend most of my working life in justice-oriented, not-for-profit work. I’ve seen the impact campaigns have when your issue is in the news, your actions are focused, and you talk to the people who can make change happen. When the Federal Minister of Finance tells you to “keep the pressure up” in your campaign because he wants to make your change happen, you know you are on target!
My work experience led me to do personal advocacy. As I read news stories, I would fire off emails to people who could take practical, concrete action. Receiving appreciative responses and seeing actions taken told me I was on to something.
I created MediaAMP so Canadians can be more than consumers of news. We can be engaged citizens, using the news to create positive change.
Thank you for your interest in MediaAMP. I’m excited to see where our collective action and wisdom takes us. Let me know your thoughts here.
